Valencia is situated at the centre of the Spanish Mediterranean coastline and is the third largest city in Spain. The centre of the city is without doubt the historic part of town. There are plenty of impressive building to be seen, including the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) and Correos (Main Post Office).

The large square, Plaza de la Reina, introduces you to the older part of the city and beyond that the historic Old Quarter, with buildings dating back to the period of Arab domination.The old city walls are incorporated into some of the newer structures adding to the old world charm of the area and the former palaces have been restored into luxury restaurants and government buildings. The contemporary modern cafes, bars and clubs contrast the old cobbled-stoned narrow streets.

The new innovative architecture can be seen more in the University area. The joining of the two Turia riverbanks into a beautiful garden and recreational area running through the entire city emphasises this point. Glass skyscrapers punch the sky and some of the most chic restaurants and nightclubs are located here. Valencia boasts three city beaches which are perfect for a relaxing stroll or to enjoy the views, while sipping on your favourite tipple from the open air terraces. Valencia is also the original home of paella.
