Day 1: Depart Dublin for Saigon via Charles de Gualle Airport, Paris.
Day 2: Arrive Saigon Airport and meet your Tour Manager for transfer by executive coach to your hotel. Time to relax and enjoy dinner in a local restaurant.
Day 3: Today enjoy a sightseeing tour of Saigon. Visit Rue Catinat, the heart of old colonial Saigon. Afterwards tour the Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum. Following lunch in the L’Etoile Restaurant explore the fascinating and vibrant area known as Chinatown,Thien Hau Pagoda and the Ben Thanh Markets.
Day 4: From Saigon, drive to Tay Ninh, birthplace of the unique Cao Dai religion, a fusion of Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Christianity, Islam and native Vietnamese spiritual beliefs. Every day at noon, worshippers garbed in colourful robes flock to the Great Temple to participate in the daily prayer sessions. Following lunch in a local restaurant, continue to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Stretching over 200 km, this incredible underground network was dug by hand. Learn about the day-to-day life of the VC, see the cleverly disguised entrances and even venture inside the tunnels. Return to Saigon in the late afternoon.
Day 5: Travel from Saigon to Cai Be where you will board a traditional wooden boat, stylishly fitted out with bamboo chairs and lounging cushions to tour the colorful floating market of Cai Be, afterwards visiting a historic Mandarin house dating from the 19th century. After local lunch continue to Phu An hamlet passing by the beautiful Cai Be church. Visit local home factories to see how rice paste is made. Transfer from Ba Bon Bridge for overnight in Can Tho. Local dinner is included.
Day 6: From Can Tho, travel into the heart of the Thot Not Bird Sanctuary, a nature reserve and bird sanctuary. Watch from a viewing tower above the tree tops as thousands of egrets and herons arrive to roost in the branches. This afternoon continue onto Chau Doc for overnight.
Day 7: Explore bustling river life around Chau Doc by traditional boat, visiting the Floating Villages, whose inhabitants live and work all their lives on the river. Stop at one of the typical houses, and see how they raise fish in nets directly under the house itself. Sam Mountain rises sharply from the surrounding rice paddies. Considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Vietnam, the mountain is dotted with pagodas and temples, many of them inside caves. Visit Lady Chua Xu Pagoda at the base and continue up shallow stairways along the mountain, visiting other pagodas as you ascend. Lunch is included today. Note: This excursion involves walking on steep and uneven surfaces and may not be suitable for all passengers. Overnight in Chau Doc.
Day 8: Board the Tu Trang Speedboat from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh. Enjoy a guided tour of Phnom Penh including the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, the official residence of King Norodom Sihamoni. Also visit Wat Phnom, the birthplace of the capital. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 9: Today learn about a chapter from Cambodia's more recent past with a visit Sleng Prison Genocide Museum, a memorial to the thousands of victims that passed through these doors. Continue on to the Killing Fields of Pol Pot’s infamous regime. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 10: Fly from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap and visit the ancient fortified city of Angkor Thom, covering an area of 10 square km and enclosed by a wall and wide moat including the Terrace of the Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper Kings, the Royal Enclosure, and mysterious Bayon Temple before exploring the crowning jewel of Khmer architecture, Angkor Wat. The largest, best preserved, and most religiously significant of the Angkor temples, Angkor impresses visitors both by its sheer scale and beautifully proportioned layout, as well as the delicate artistry of its carvings. Tonight enjoy dinner with an Apsara dance performance. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 11: Visit the wonderful Banteay Srei Temple, the jewel of classical Khmer art, and the mid 12th century Temple Banteay Samre, dedicated to the god Vishnu before continuing to the Roluos Group Temples. These Temples comprise of the three oldest temples during the 600-year Angkorian Period: Preah Ko, Bakong, Lolei. Roluos was established by King Jayavarman II as a capital of Khmer civilization and remained as the capital during the reign of his three successors. The three temples share similar architectural features – they are made up of square-shaped brick towers, and have arched gateways built as entrances to courtyards. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 12: Morning at leisure. Transfer to Siem Reap Airport for return flight to Dublin via Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris.
Day 13: Arrive Dublin Airport.
