Join us on this wonderful 5 day cooking tour to San Sebastian in Spain. Cooking lessons are held at a real-life restaurant cooking school in the beautiful fishing village of San Juan near San Sebastian. Your professional chef has over 20 years experience at top level gastronomy and his knowledge of traditional Basque cuisine combined with his passion for cooking makes him an excellent teacher. The class captures the essence of Basque cuisine and is aimed at enthusiast home cooks although no prior experience or knowledge is necessary.

Itinerary

Day 1
Fly from Dublin to Biarritz and transfer to you hotel, the 4* Astoria 7, recently converted from a cinema into one of the most modern hotels in San Sebastian and with easy walking distance to the old city centre.

Day 2
Following breakfast transfer to your cooking school to begin your lessons. This mornings session focuses on the introduction to traditional Basque cuisine and pintxos. A chance to learn knife skills, fish preparation and classic Basque recipes.Lunch overlooking the sea with dishes which you have created, paired with local wines.
Includes coffee and local Patxaran liquors. Chance for a short walk along the beautiful coastal path before returning to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure
 

Day 3
Enjoy a free morning to explore the city, its wonderful beaches and walks or to go shopping in the wide, tree lined boulevards. Meeting at you hotel and transfer to your afternoon class at the restaurant. Continue what you have learnt from the previous day’s class. Today, focus with a master class on Basque fish and seafood dishes using seasonal produce, with a short break in between sessions. Relax with a drink on the village square
before putting together all your hard work into a gourmet dinner, which you will enjoy with paired wines in
the dining room or terrace. Return to your hotel following your evening meal.

Day 4
After breakfast meet in the old town as we start today's cooking class with a morning visit to the famed
La Bretxa market in San Sebastian where we will sample local produce and collect ingredients for the
day’s class. A great opportunity to learn alongside our chef how he selects ingredients and to see the
magnificent displays of fish and local produce and interact with locals. Transfer to the cooking school with your ingredients for the morning’s class, with new modules, culminating in putting together all you have learnt on the course so far as well as learning some modern tricks and cooking techniques. Lunch overlooking the sea with dishes you have created, paired with local wines. Includes coffee and local Patxaran liquors. Return to your hotel mid afternoon for remainder of day at leisure.

Day 5
Enjoy the morning to relax and explore the city before your return transfer to the airport and return flight to Dublin.
